LOCATION:

  1. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Khurai is in Sagar District . It is the biggest tehsil of Sagar district.
  2. Khurai is located on the northen latitude of 240 and eastern longitude of 78031' .
  3.  It is about 52 KMs away towards the western direction of the district.
  4. Sagar district has 08 Tehsils ( Banda, Sagar, Rahali, Deori, Khurai Rahat Garh, Garakota). The area of Sagar district is 10252 KM2.

PHYSICAL STRUCTURE:
  Sagar Distt is a part of Bundelkhan plateu  and very near to Baghel Khand area. Ignos rocks are found here. Some hilly areas are found in Khurai, Sagar, Rehli & Rahat Garh tehsil which are the part of Vindya Kaimur ranges.

Vegetation:
  Some areas of Bundel Khand and Baghel Khand are covered with green  with green forests which includes like teack (Sagon) , balash, bamboo and tendu.

CLIMATE:
  Sagar Distt is in severe climatic effect. In winter season the temperature of the district falls down upto 70c and in summer season in increases upto 450c
  Sagar District receives the 100 to 120 cm annual rain fall. It is mostly received in July to September month.
  It is far away from sea-coast. So poor humidity is experienced here.

Agriculture & occupation:
  The economy of Sagar distt. is based on agriculture . Black soils is  found here, so Kharif  and Rabi crops are grown. Wheat , masoor, matar, soyabean are grown. in the village area. Occupation of bidi making is developed as a cottage industries.

Rivers:
  Sonar and Dhasaan rivers flow in the District. Both rivers flow in south to north direction and associated with Ken river.

Road and railway transportation:
  Bina Junction is the only  railway junction in Sagar district which is connected with Katni, Delhi, Bhopal and Guna, Bina Katni railway line crosses the Sagar District Head Quarter which is away 74 km. from Bina.
  Bhopal Jabalpur state highway across the Sagar Distt headquarter and frequent bus services are available from Bhopal.

Culture and heritage:

    • Garh Pahera Fort :          It is about 11 Km. away from Sagar located in the north direction on Jhansi road. It is built before British ruling period and built by Red Sediment rock.
    •  Rahat Garh Fall  : On the Bina river, a beautiful water fall is located which is 32 Km. from JNV Khurai in Rahat Garh. It is a picnic spot and so many tourists go there in rainy season . It is very beautiful picnic spot of  Sagar District.
    •  Dohela Mandir :  It is an ancient Lord Shiva temple located in the middle of the pond and surrounded by walls of Khurai fort in Khurai city which is the centre of religious activities of the Hindus.
    • Lal Mandir : There is the majority of Jain community in the population of Sagar District, So a newly temple has been constructed in Khurai called Lal Mandir . It has been built with red stones and built as per modern architecture . The statue of Mahaveer Swami is inside there.
